1996 The Sub Indian Continent

From the bottom of the ocean to the top of the world…

In 1996 I somehow got it in my head to travel from the bottom of the ocean to the top of the world. A task easier said than done. Going to the bottom was an easy choice as by then I had qualified as a diver and there were still plenty of destinations with spectacular diving to choose from. But then how to combine it with the top of the world, where to find the top of the world. The highest top in the world is the Everest which is surrounded by Tibet and Nepal but these countries are not really known as diving destinations. But then go about 3.500 km further south and one finds the Maldives, diver’s paradise…

Now combining these destinations might sound as a crazy adventure to most of you but for me it was a way to fulfill a dream: Travel from the bottom of the ocean to the top of the world.
